Alright future platinum producers….
Here is the video you’ve all been waiting for:
Again, I want to thank all of you for so many great questions.
Now, I spent several hours putting this together, so please take time to leave comments at the bottom of this post, letting me know how this video was helpful to you.
I will remind you that these questions and answers were carefully chosen after several days of receiving and reviewing an extremely large number of emails and questions from you all, so it would have been impossible for me to answer EVERY QUESTION.
However, even if I don’t address your question specifically, there’s a good chance that I will still answer your question(s) in this video, with how thorough and deep I go!
In order to view the video, you can either click on the link to watch it online or you can “right

Dis make good for me. i like to made tha beats evry day. thank you. bless you.
Thanks for the video, you did a great job. Appreciate the time you put into creating it(a video that is an hour long aint easy to make). Haven’t watched it in detail yet, just glanced through it. Saw some vst’s I’m gonna get soon.
One question, I use fruity loops 9, but I noticed that you’re using pro tools, should I switch? I really love fruity loops 9 so I don’t wanna try something else(except switching to pro tools could improve my sounds).
Please reply….
TBB,
Thanks for the comment! I’m glad the video was helpful to you.
In terms of switching from Fruity Loops to P.T., I would only suggest it in the case that you’re limited with Fruity Loops.
In other words, is there anything you CAN’T DO in F.L. that you wish you could do?
I’m always much more concerned with your sound libraries. If you have the right sounds (especially drums), you can sequence them in any program, as long as it doesn’t limit you on what you can do to those sounds. For example, if you’re limited on how many plug-ins, efx, etc. that you can apply, because of F.L., then I would say upgrade. However, if you’re comfortable with the User Interface and you can apply any VST/RTAS plug-in or Virtual Instrument that you want (assuming you have a PC with adequate processing power), and you can apply mastering efx, etc., then I would say to stick with it as long as you can.
You may discover down the road that there are other things you would like to be able to do, that FL doesn’t allow, but in the meantime, I’m all for keeping as low of cost as possible, and maximizing the equipment you have now.
Too many people jump at the newest, greatest thing, and never maximize what they have. There are platinum selling producers that I know of, who still use F.L.
If you decide to upgrade however, I would suggest P.T. as a great option that gives you a lot of versatility. There are a few bugs they need to work out in the next year, so waiting a while to upgrade probably wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Hope this helps!
TBB,
to further answer your question, let me add one point…I don’t ever use stock sounds that come with any program. I get VST virtual instruments (or RTAS), and I buy drum kits that are professionally processed (www.mpcsounds.com). Or, I process my own, which has taken me a couple of years to learn. I spend a little bit of time on this in the video, so when you have a chance to review in more detail, I would recommend doing so.
Thanks again!
Good Lookin’ D-Boy!
Thanks for replying. I watched your video yesterday(I’m a Varsity student so I’ve been stumped with work throughout the week, only had free time yesterday), it was awesome. You gave pretty good advice/tips there… I’m gonna get wavelab. Yeah, I’ll stick to FL, especially because of the Interface.
P.S
Thanks for answering my question… although you had already answered it in the video.
Oh, one more question, could you suggest some VSTi’s (excluding battery and absynth) that can help me get a professional hip-hop sound. I’ve got a couple of VSTi’s but I think I might have the wrong bunch.
Thanks.
Hey man i really confused about beat making, One thing that confuse the hell out of me is WHICH SOFTWARE IS BEST FOR BEAT MAKING?
TBB,
I would suggest the East/West VST libraries. Namely, GOLIATH is probably the most well rounded VST with a great selection of instruments, drums etc. And they’re the most realistic sounds I’ve ever used.
I also use Miroslav Philharmonik. This is a great Orchestra VST which gives you a ton of great orchestra instruments.
I would definitely get Battery 3 if you don’t have it already, and use that as your drum sampler, unless you already have an MPC.
Hope this helps.
D-Boy
Ok, thanks. I’ll get all of them and see what I can do.
Thanks a lot.
God bless.
the videos are crazy….I love this can i get more?
Thank you for taking the time to produce an excellent video. I am very interested in selling my beats on my own website, will you be discussing how to setup a beat selling site in future videos?
Again thank you D-Boy
Hey whats up? Nice post. Which records did you do for E-40, Sparxx and G-Unit? I’d love to hear em.
